A magical place

in North of Denmark

A nice walk

to reach the lighthouse Rubjerg Knude Fyr

situated between Løkken and Lønstrup.

Until quite recently the lighthouse was surrounded by several houses. They have now been "eaten" by the sand.
The sand dune is constantly changing.
A period the lighthouse was not even visible from the sea,
and in 1968 the lighthouse was switched off for the final time.

It was extremely windy the day we visited...
Felix found it rather painful wearing shorts and t-shirt exposing his skin to the sand.

It was built more than 200 meters from the coastal cliff in 1899 / 1900.

Because of coastal erosion the cliff is moving further and further Inland. Now the lighthouse is almost on the edge.

Patiently the sea, are eroding the area from the west.
In a few years from now....

the lighthouse will collapse into the sea.
